Healthy plants, but slow delivery

I purchased a few Fig Trees and a Meyer Lemon Tree from this site. The plants themselves were quite healthy and looked robust, much better than what I've sometimes seen locally. The packaging was also very thorough, keeping everything secure during transit. My main gripe was the shipping time; it took almost 8 days for the order to get to me, which felt a bit long for live plants. While they survived the journey, a quicker delivery would have been ideal. Customer service was polite when I called about the delay. Good plants, just need faster shipping.

My garden is happy now!

Oh my goodness, I am so happy with my order from Plants by Mail! I got a bunch of Lavender and some gorgeous Daylilies, and they arrived so fresh and green. I was a bit worried about ordering plants online, but these guys really know what they're doing! They were packaged perfectly, and everything looked amazing when I opened the box. I will absolutely be buying from them again for all my garden needs!

Ordered some Boxwoods. Arrived healthy, well-packaged. Shipping took 5 days. Planted them, they look good. Happy with purchase.

Always reliable plants

I've ordered from Plants by Mail a few times now, and they've been consistently good. My latest order was for some Encore Azaleas and a couple of those Southern Living plants. They arrived in great shape, just like my previous orders did last spring. Shipping took about 5 days to reach my home in Florida. It's why I keep coming back, never had any issues.

Got some cool plants!

So I decided to get some Butterfly Bushes and a couple of those Japanese Maples. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect but they came looking really good. Shipping took 6 days to reach my place. It was super easy to unpack them and get them in the ground. Felt pretty good about the whole thing.

Good quality, minor shipping hiccup

I ordered several Knock Out Roses and a few Hydrangeas from Plants by Mail. The ordering process on the website was straightforward, and I received an email confirmation quickly. The plants were packaged well; each one was secured in its pot and the soil was still damp. They arrived in about a week, though one of the rose bushes had a slightly bent branch, likely from transit, but it wasn't severe. Customer support was responsive when I inquired about tracking, providing a detailed update. The plants themselves were healthy and vibrant upon arrival. Overall, a solid experience, just wished the bent branch hadn't happened.

Planning a big order for my backyard project, like a dozen shrubs. Do they do bulk discounts or anything like that?

P Priya R. 2 months ago
Sometimes they have seasonal sales on specific types of shrubs, so you might catch a deal that way. I've never seen a general 'buy X get Y% off' bulk discount though, unless it's a specific promo.

Worth checking if they have a 'wholesale' type section or contact them directly for large orders. For a dozen, you might be able to get a little something off, who knows?

How long does it usually take for plants to arrive? I'm in Florida and want to plant some stuff next weekend.

S Sophie 2 months ago
For Florida, it's usually pretty quick, like 3-5 business days max. I've had orders get to Orlando in 3 days. Might depend on what you order though.

Mine took about a week to Georgia. They ship from the grower so it's not like an Amazon warehouse, give it a few extra days just in case.

Are their prices usually pretty firm or do they have sales often? I'm eyeing some citrus trees.

A Andre Ito 2 months ago
They do seasonal sales, especially around spring or fall, and sometimes for specific plant collections like Encore Azaleas. Citrus trees might pop up in a sale, but it's not a constant thing. Keep an eye on their emails.

I think they have sales during holidays too, like Black Friday. And definitely sign up for their newsletter, that usually gets you 10-15% off your first order right away.

Is this place legit? Like, are the plants actually good quality, or is it a gamble?

R Raj C. 2 months ago
Super legit! I've ordered from them multiple times and their plants are always healthy and well-packed. Much better than some other online nurseries I've tried.

Yeah, they're the real deal. I got some Encore Azaleas and they're thriving. They come directly from the growers, so the quality is usually top-notch.

Trying to decide between this place and Fast Growing Trees for some shade trees. Any thoughts on which one's better quality or service?

S Sophie Lindqvist 2 months ago
I've used both. Fast Growing Trees is good but I find Plants by Mail's packaging for larger stuff a bit more robust. Quality-wise, both are decent, but Plants by Mail seems to have a wider variety of specific plant types like the Southern Living collection.

Depends on what you're getting. For common stuff, FGT is fine. For anything a bit more specialized or if you want those branded plant collections, Plants by Mail is usually where I go. Service has been great for me with PBM.
